Apple launched the iPhone 12 series smartphones back in October this year. Now, a new report says that the iPhone 12 is the best selling 5G smartphone of 2020.

As per a report by Counterpoint Research, iPhone 12 became the world’s best-selling 5G smartphone model in October despite a delayed launch, which resulted in only two weeks of sales during the month.

The report also said that the iPhone 12 Pro, which was launched alongside the iPhone 12, was the second best-selling 5G model for the month. The iPhone 12 and 12 Pro together captured close to one-fourth of the total 5G smartphone sales in October.

What’s more? The report also said that the iPhone 12 also entered the top 10 bestseller list of 5G devices for January-October 2020, wherein it stood on the seventh spot. The Samsung’s Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G, which was the best-selling 5G device in September, slipped to the third position.

The research and analysis firm also explained the reasons as to why the iPhone 12 achieved this spot. As per its analysis, there is a large pent-up demand for 5G upgrade, especially within the iOS base, which is now getting converted into sales.

Additionally, the report said that China and Japan saw strong initial demand for the iPhone 12 series. Compared to most of the other 5G models, which have a regional presence, the iPhone 12 has a wider market coverage. It is available in over 140 countries, which in turn helped the sales.

In terms of the overall sales, the iPhone 12 grabbed 16% market share, while the iPhone 12 Pro grabbed an 8% market share as far as the top 5G smartphones around the world are concerned. These phones were followed by the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G, Huawei Nova 7 5G and the Huawei P40 5G on the third, fourth and fifth spots with 4%, 3% and 3% market share respectively.
