Hannah Cockroft (Paul Moseley, Leeds) sliced four seconds off her world record (subject to ratification) in the T34 800m with an excellent time of 1:44.43 to start her 2023 campaign off in record-breaking style. In the mixed classification race, Sammi Kinghorn (Rodger Harkins, Red Star) also improved her 800m personal best to 1:44.55, improving her best by over three seconds.

In the women’s T54 800m, Eden Rainbow-Cooper (Jenny Archer, Weir Archer Academy) continued her excellent form as she set a PB of 1:46.96 to finish second behind Patricia Eachus (SUI). Mel Woods (Rodger Harkins, Red Star) was narrowly outside her career best in 1:49.96.

In a race that saw Marcel Hug (SUI) improve the T54 800 men’s world record to 1:27.77, Danny Sidbury (Christine Parsloe, Sutton & District) seized the opportunity to take four seconds off his PB to set a time of 1:31.35 in third place, one of the fastest ever times by a Briton. Nathan Maguire (Ste Hoskins, Kirkby), who was leading the chasing group until the closing stages, crossed the line in eighth in 1:32.44.
