The pass is about 14 kilometers long, and has nine hairpin bends. It starts from Adivaram in Kozhikode district, and ascends to Lakkidi in Wayanad district. The highest point on the pass is about 800 meters above sea level.

There is a view point at the top of the ghat pass just after the 9th hairpin and before reaching Lakkidi. Lakkidi viewpoint offers panoramic views of the Wayanad hills and valleys.
