The bottle, named The Intrepid, was distilled at the acclaimed Macallan Distillery in Scotland for 32 years since 1989. It was finally bottled by beverage company Duncan Taylor Scotch Whisky into a five-feet-and-11-inch-long container in 2021. It is pale gold and has a sweet taste with notes of apple, says the auction house.

The Intrepid bottle holds 311-liter whisky. The huge bottle is not the most expensive container of whiskey ever sold. That honor goes to a 60-year-old Macallan sold for $1.53 million in 2018.

The company also released 12 miniature replicas of the bottle filled with the remaining contents of the 32-year-old cask at the Macallan Distillery.

The auction will support several charities, including Marie Curie and Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM), says Lyon.
