Founded in 1958, Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TUTCM) is one of the oldest universities of traditional Chinese Medicine in China. After over 50 years of operation, the school now offers 16 undergraduate programs, 27 masters programs, 18 Ph.D. programs and one post-doctoral fellowship.

The International University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (IUTCM), authorized by the State Education Committee, established in the school in 1992, and has become the national center for foreign students to study traditional Chinese medicine. Each year over 1,000 students from 20 countries and regions study at the university. In addition, the IUTCM has established cooperation with universities, research and medical institutions in more than 30 countries around the world.
