Le Chi organic pepper is a product that combines indigenous pepper varietals with the organic farming methodology. It is grown by the Nam Yang Cooperative in Nam Yang commune, Dak Doa district, Gia Lai province and is certified organic by American and European standards.

Nam Yang Cooperative has 16 hectares of pepper certified with organic standards such as those of the USDA in the United States and the EU in Europe by the international certification organization Control Union. Organic pepper costs twice as much as ordinary pepper and is produced in quantities of 60 tons per year. In addition to focusing on exports of 40 tons per year, the cooperative’s remaining production has associated production and invested in technology lines for processing white pepper, pink pepper, and black pepper under the brand name Le Chi pepper.

In 2018, the Le Chi pepper brand was named one of Vietnam’s most recognizable agricultural brands. The Gia Lai Provincial People’s Committee has also classified three Le Chi pepper products—white pepper, black pepper, and red pepper—as provincially representative agricultural and rural goods.

The journey to nominate and promote the TOP-BEST best-selling OCOP-certified products in 63 provinces and cities of Vietnam is one of the projects implemented under the strategic alliance between the Vietnam Records Organization (VietKings), the USA Records Organization (USKings) and the World Records Institute (WorldMark), with the goal of propagating and promoting the record values of countries worldwide.
