Cerro de Pasco is a city in central Peru, located at the top of the Andean Mountains. It is the capital of both the Pasco Province and the Department of Pasco, and an important mining center of silver, copper, zinc, and lead. At an elevation of 4,330 meters, it is one of the highest cities in the world.

Estadio Daniel Alcides Carrión is a multi-use stadium located in Cerro de Pasco, Peru. It is used by the football team Unión Minas. The club was founded 23 April 1974 and plays in the Copa Perú which is the third division of the Peruvian league.

The stadium holds 8,000 people and is the highest stadium in the world, with an altitude of 4,380 meters above sea level. This makes it very difficult for players who are not used to playing at this height.

Named after the Peruvian medical student who himself gave his name of Carrion’s Disease, Estadio Daniel Alcides Carrión has been the sight of controversy in the past. In May 2007, for example, the governing body of international football, FIFA, banned international matches from being played above 8,200 feet from sea level. The ban was revoked in 2008.
