The Iho Tewoo Horse Lighthouses are a pair of charming red and white lighthouses on Jeju Island, South Korea. They’re not just lighthouses, though; they’re shaped like the adorable Jeju pony, an island symbol.

The Iho Tewoo Horse Lighthouses are the world’s largest animal-shaped lighthouses. With 12 meters in height, both lighthouses feature an 8-metre-long gallery deck fringed by safety railings. Inside the middle tower, a watch room leads up to a circular lantern room crowning each horse’s head. The concrete structures that sit at the end of Iho Tewoo Beach were completed on 4 February 2009.

These unique lighthouses stand proudly on a cliff overlooking the beautiful East China Sea. They’re not only functional navigational aids for ships but also a popular tourist destination. Visitors can enjoy stunning coastline views, take photos with the iconic landmarks, and even climb to the top of one of the lighthouses (for a small fee) for an even more breathtaking panorama.

The lighthouses are a popular stop for visitors to Jeju Island, and they’re often featured in photos and videos of the island. If you’re ever in Jeju Island, be sure to make a trip to the Iho Tewoo Horse Lighthouses. They’re a truly unique and memorable sight.
