The club’s home ground is Mitcham Cricket Green, which is located in the heart of Mitcham. The green is one of the oldest cricket grounds in the world, and has been in use since at least the 17th century.

Over the centuries, Mitcham Cricket Club has played host to a number of notable matches and events. The club also played a role in the development of the game of cricket.

In the 20th century, Mitcham Cricket Club continued to thrive, and the club produced a number of notable players, including four Test cricketers: Tom Richardson, Andy Sandham, Herbert Strudwick, and David Smith.

The club also has a ladies’ team – the Mitcham Sapphires playing softball cricket. The club also has a significant and growing junior section including three junior league teams. They run the ECB All Stars program for 5-8-year-olds and in 2020 will also be running their Dynamos program for 8-11-year-olds. Most of the Club’s playing membership is drawn from the Merton area and the Club plays a vital role in offering the opportunity for young people to play cricket as few have the facilities to access cricket through their state schools. The club also provides an important social hub for non-playing members, many of whom are former players. Our membership has an age range of seven to over eighty.

Today, Mitcham Cricket Club is a thriving community club with a strong junior section. The club continues to play a leading role in the local cricket scene and is committed to preserving the rich heritage of the game of cricket.
