Virgin Atlantic is a British airline known for its innovative and stylish approach to air travel. Founded in 1984 by entrepreneur Richard Branson, it quickly gained a reputation for being a fun and exciting alternative to traditional airlines.

Virgin Atlantic is known for its distinctive red and white color scheme and its playful attitude. They often use humor and creativity in their marketing campaigns, which has helped them to build a loyal following.

Virgin Atlantic flies to a wide range of destinations in the Caribbean, North America, Africa, and Asia. They also have a partnership with Delta Air Lines, which gives them access to an even larger network.

Virgin Atlantic flew the world’s first 100% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). This historic event took place on November 28, 2023, marking a significant milestone in the aviation industry’s journey towards sustainable flying.

A Virgin Atlantic Boeing 787, powered solely by Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), successfully completed a transatlantic journey from London Heathrow Airport (LHR) to New York John F. Kennedy Airport (JFK). This marked the first time a commercial airline had flown such a long distance using 100% SAF.

As well as proving the capabilities of SAF, the flight will assess how its use affects the flight’s non-carbon emissions with the support of consortium partners ICF, Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI), Imperial College London and University of Sheffield. The research will improve scientific understanding of the effects of SAF on contrails and particulates and help to implement contrail forecasts in the flight planning process.
