The Glasgow Humane Society is a registered charity. It was founded to save lives in and around the waterways of Greater Glasgow. The Society is contracted by the council to maintain the provision of Life Belts along the Clyde and assist in Search and Locate missions for missing people. Alongside Strathclyde Police, the Glasgow Humane Society introduced a GPS system for rescue equipment along the River Clyde.

They have saved countless lives over the years, both from drowning and from other water-related accidents. In addition to its lifesaving work, the Glasgow Humane Society is also involved in education and prevention. They offer water safety training to schools and community groups, and they work to raise awareness of the dangers of drowning.

The Society is a vital part of the Glasgow community, and it relies on the support of the public to continue its work.
